Body Language is a form of non-verbal expression. There are several different elements of body language each having their own range of interior attitudes and emotions. These elements include

POSTURE- this creates impressions hence the way we sit, stand and move.

GESTURE- these simple ways in which we move our hands and feet express general feelings that may be hidden or obvious.

FACIAL EXPRESSIONS- our faces express feelings most out of any body part. It's in our eyes and mouth that these feelings are created.

The extra ordinary process of empathy is that in which the non-verbal communication sends and receives messages, it involves the ability to understand and feel the emotions being experienced by others. At on stage there was a monologue about an imaginary horse and the rider would pat and kiss the horse, expressing great respect for it.

Sometimes we recall feelings that we have experienced previous in our lives at a particular time or event. It's this feeling and emotion which brings emotional memory to life. Emotional memory is needed in cases which the actor has no previous experience. So they imagine how they would feel in this type of situation and trigger back old memories to when they once felt that type of emotion. This skill enhances communication and quick emotion acting.

In my monologue I play Laura a lady in her 0's to 0's that is "the other woman" in Kenneth's life. Laura is younger and sexier than his previous wife and has been with Kenneth for several years after finally persuading him to leave his wife and marry her. Laura hates being tied down to a house but likes to go out and have fun. She has no intentions of being a domestic slave.

To play a successful Laura emotional memory needs to come into use, as I have never been in a situation like this so therefore I have no experience playing her. Laura seems mad at the situation her life is in at this moment in time. So for me to play this role I have to relive a moment in my life where I was mad with what people want me to be and not what I am. These memories and feelings will help me express Laura's character in full depth, and help her release the person she wants to be.

To be a great actor people have to understand and be able to incorporate character objectives and motivation into their works. This encourages the acting to be more passionate and gives the character great depth. A well thought out example of this is the TV show 4. The main character Jack Bauer is an employee for the Counter Terrorist Unit, who works to keep the city of Los Angeles safe from terrorist activities. In the latest series Jack is working to try and stop a nuclear bomb from exploding in an unknown location in the city. But his only link to the bomb is the Nina Myers, the traitor who killed Jacks wife. This leaves Jack in an awkward situation as he has to work along side Nina to locate and disarm the bomb.

Jacks character is passionate about his family and those close to him. This is easily shown in the way Keifer Sutherland (Jack) reacts around Nina and his daughter Kim. Jacks anger and hatred for Nina is incredibly realistic although he does not let this affect the way he works whilst being in her presence. Jacks character requires extreme character objectives and motivation due to the situations he is put in, and in tern creates a suspenseful series in which the plot is never what it seems.

Observation is the unique ability to take characteristics off someone or something else you have observed. This can come into use when you are playing a "make believe character" for example there is a crazy lady who catches my bus and by watching her I can learn many ways in which to act like her. This skill can be used in many, many ways.

Lee Strasberg was born in Budanov, Ukraine, on 17th November, 101. The Strasberg family emigrated to the United States in 108. Strasberg lived in Lower East Side of New York and as a teenager he began acting in plays.

Strasberg studied in Moscow under the Russian director, Konstantin Stanislavsky, who had developed a system of training and rehearsal for actors which bases a performance upon inner emotional experience.

In 11 Strasberg joined with Harold Clurman to form the Group Theatre in New York. Members of the group tended to hold left-wing political views and wanted to produce plays that dealt with important social issues.

The Group Theatre disbanded in 141 and Strasberg moved to Hollywood. He returned to Manhattan in 147 where he joined with Elia Kazan to form the Actors Studio. Over the next few years he helped to train a large number of actors including Marlon Brando, Rod Steiger, Eli Wallach, Patricia Neal, Dustin Hoffman and Robert DeNiro. Lee Strasberg died on 17th February, 18.

By incorporating all these different techniques, will enhance and broaden your acting skills. And in return make you a better and more experienced actor.
